Privacy

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Memoria processes everything on your device. The only outgoing network request is the one-time, optional download of a Whisper model.
Do you collect analytics?

Anonymous usage data only: install ID (random), device model, OS version, app version, screen views. No content of your photos, no search queries, no IP address. You can disable it from Settings.
Is there an account?

There is no account. There is nothing to log into.
Does it work offline?

Yes. Memoria does not need a network connection to run. The only network use is the optional Whisper model download.

Why is it a one-time purchase?

There are no server costs to cover, as everything runs on your device. A subscription would not be honest, so we don't ask for one.
What's the launch price?

Memoria Plus is $14.99 at launch, and will move to $7.99 a few weeks later. The launch price is meant to thank early adopters.
Will I lose access if I stop paying?

There is nothing to stop paying. You buy Memoria Plus once and own it.
How do refunds work?

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies. Contact them directly if you need one.

How long does the first index take?

On a modern phone, count a few minutes per thousand photos. Videos with audio transcription take longer because Whisper has to listen to them. Indexing continues in the background.
Does it drain my battery?

Memoria pauses indexing on low battery, and you can require it to run only while charging. Once the initial pass is done, incremental indexing of new media is short and cheap.
What does the free limit cover?

You can index up to 250 media on the free tier. We interleave photos and videos so you get a real taste of transcription, not just OCR, before hitting the limit.

Can I sync across devices?

Not yet. Each device indexes independently. An end-to-end encrypted sync option is on the roadmap (and would be the only thing we'd ever charge a subscription for, because it would actually have a server cost).
Which OCR languages are supported?

English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese. Whisper transcribes 99+ languages.

Can I export my index?

Yes. Settings → Advanced → Export database produces a SQLite file you can keep safe. Import it on a new device to skip reindexing.
If I delete the app, do I lose data?

Your photos are not affected, as they live in your phone's photo library. The Memoria index is local to the app, so uninstalling removes it. Export first if you want to keep it.
